Summary

The HTML <cite> Element (or HTML Citation Element) contains the title of a work, such as a book, song, movie, TV show, sculpture, etc.

Usage Notes:

  • In {{ HTMLVersionInline(5) }}, use of this element to mark a person's name is no longer considered semantically appropriate.
  • Use the {{ htmlattrxref("cite", "blockquote") }} attribute on a {{ HTMLElement("blockquote") }} or {{ HTMLElement("q") }} element to reference an online resource for a source.

Attributes

This element has no other attributes than the global attributes, common to all elements.

Notes
