Summary

outline-color is used to set the color of the outline of an element. An outline is a line that is drawn around elements, outside the border edge, to make the element stand out:

  • {{template.Xref_cssinitial()}}: {{template.Cssxref("invert")}}
  • Applies to: all elements
  • {{template.Xref_cssinherited()}}: no
  • Media: {{template.Xref_cssvisual()}}
  • {{template.Xref_csscomputed()}}:

In browsers previous to Gecko 1.8 (Firefox 1.5) webdeveloper could archive same effect by using Mozilla CSS Extension {{template.Cssxref("-moz-outline-color")}}.

Syntax

outline-color: <color> | invert | inherit

Values

<color>
The color to set the outline, either a name (red), rgb value (rgb(255,0,0)), or a hex value (#FF0000).

  /* make the outline red */
  outline-color: #FF0000;
