Summary

-moz-window-shadow specifies whether a window will have a shadow. Currently it only works on Mac OS X.

  • {{ Xref_cssinitial() }}: {{ Cssxref("default") }}
  • Applies to: all elements that create native windows, e.g. window, panel
  • {{ Xref_cssinherited() }}: no
  • Percentages: n/a
  • Media: {{ Xref_cssvisual() }}
  • {{ Xref_csscomputed() }}:

Firefox 3 added support for transparent windows on Mac OS X. However, for these windows shadows were turned off and there was no way of turning them on.

In Firefox 3.5 we changed the default; all windows now have a shadow. We introduced the -moz-window-shadow CSS property to provide a way to turn off unwanted shadows.

Syntax

-moz-window-shadow: default | menu | tooltip | sheet | none

Values

default
The window will have a shadow with the default window shadow style.
menu {{ gecko_minversion_inline("2.0") }}
The window will have the shadow style that's appropriate for menus.
tooltip {{ gecko_minversion_inline("2.0") }}
The window will have the shadow style that's appropriate for tooltips.
sheet {{ gecko_minversion_inline("2.0") }}
The window will have the shadow style that's appropriate for sheet windows.
none
The window won't have a shadow.

Examples

  -moz-window-shadow: none;
