This feature is not on a current W3C standards track, but it is supported on the Firefox OS platform. Although implementations may change in the future and it is not supported widely across browsers, it is suitable for use in code dedicated to Firefox OS apps.
MozSmsSegmentInfo interface provides information about how a string of text will be automatically split into segments. Each segment represents a single SMS of a multi-part SMS message.
MozSmsSegmentInfo interface cannot be instantiated directly; use the
MozMobileMessageManager.getSegmentInfoForText() method to get such an object.
- The number of total segments for the input string.
- The number of characters available per segment.
- The maximum number of available characters in the last segment.
This is a non standard implementation, but it is discussed at W3C as part of the System Application Working Group.
