    « DOM Reference

    Non-standard
    This feature is not on a current W3C standards track, but it is supported on the Firefox OS platform. Although implementations may change in the future and it is not supported widely across browsers, it is suitable for use in code dedicated to Firefox OS apps.

    This API is available on Firefox OS for privileged or certified applications only.

    Summary

    The getCount method is used to retrieve the total number of contacts available inside the device's contact database.

    Syntax

    var instanceOfDomRequest = window.navigator.mozContacts.getCount();

    Return value

    A DOMRequest object to handle the success or error of the operation. In case of success, the request's result is a number.

    Example

    var request = window.navigator.mozContacts.getCount();

    request.onsuccess = function () {
      console.log('there are ' + this.result + ' contacts in the database.');
    }

    request.onerror = function () {
      console.log('Something goes wrong!');
    }
