Atom format

  • Can anyone add to the "technology" section a link to a Atom syndication format article? --RuiMaciel 15:14, 7 September 2005 (PDT)

Re: Atom format

The next time I have some time off, I can start one.

Skins

Are the two mozilla skins of MediaWiki available for download somewhere (as a package rather than downloading the files one by one)? Dori 18:04, 1 December 2005 (PST)

Yes, sort-of, but be catious when you consider using it, i do not think it is GPL/etc. -Callek 09:04, 2 December 2005 (PST)

Follow up, are there many changes that you guys have made to the stock MediaWiki release for the skin? Dori 18:43, 1 December 2005 (PST)

we have made few changes to MediaWiki overall, you can see _all_ the stuff we have done for wordpres and mediawiki in our cvs, see the bonsai link: bonsai -Callek 09:04, 2 December 2005 (PST)

Bugs

How do I fix bugs/suggest fixes of the MDC wiki skin? --Cheba 06:05, 25 May 2006 (PDT)

Very few people edit this wiki per day. Why not enable editing for unregistered users, like Wikipedia does, and see how it goes? Unforgettableid 22:21, 14 December 2005 (PST)

I think it has to do with (a) spam prevention, (b) accountability (for technical related things), and (c) licence attribution, incase changes are ever needed. But don't quote me on that ;-). --Callek 09:27, 15 December 2005 (PST)
Yeah we already tried anonymous posting, and it really doesn't suit this project well. We do need a certain amount of accountability and so forth. -- dria 09:44, 15 December 2005 (PST)

Abandoned Extensions

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask about this, but it's the closest thing I've run across to the right area to bring it up. Mozdev.org has a list of abandoned extensions here: http://www.mozdev.org/projects/abandoned.html It would appear that contributors can pick up projects on mozdev.org if they are willing, but I haven't found any such faciliy for addons.mozdev.org What is the / Is there a procedure for reporting / picking up / killing abandoned projects?

As some of you may know, I have been going through some of the more important projects that appear abandoned, researching their current state, contacting the authors, and reporting back to the AMO extension page. I think where we are going to run into problems is when the more popular extensions get abandoned. In particular, no one knows how to contact the author of FoxyVoice, and for reasons yet unknown, FireVox was never completely set up on mozdev.org and AMO. This leaves a gaping hole in Firefox functionality, and people are already starting say 'just go use 'Opera'. So.. back to the question, what is the procedure for abandoned / apparently abandoned extensions? -- Crogon 02:18, 16 December 2005 (PST)

I'll ask around and see if I can get an answer for you. -- dria 14:23, 16 December 2005 (PST)
Thank you SO much for your time, deeply appreciated. :) Crogon 04:21, 17 December 2005 (PST)

Chinese DevMo

Hi dria:

while I edit chinese Devmo pages, why I could not use "breadcrumbs" tag? --Klp99 19:18, 13 January 2006 (PST)

See {{template.Bug(323347)}} --Callek 07:10, 14 January 2006 (PST)

Can someone set up an interwiki link to the Chinese MDC main page off of here, would explain why some see that wiki as abandoned (the lack of a link). I only speak english of course though. --Callek 11:51, 1 January 2006 (PST)

done - dria 17:39, 2 January 2006 (PST)

Java

Would a Java section under "Technologies" be of any use? I know I'd be able to write several references/articles for such a section, but I'm not sure if that's the type of "Technology" you guys are aiming for. --rappo, 19:29 16 February 2006 (PST)

Yeah, unfortunately Java-in-general is out of scope for the MDC. Thanks, though :) -- dria 19:54, 16 February 2006 (PST)

Developer Links

Can you put links for development things like the mailing lists & how to get & build the Mozilla Source Code Via CVS on the main page? It's a PITA to have to dig through the site to find them. Searching for cvs doesn't even turn up the checkout page. Jeff Carr 15:27, 24 February 2006 (PST)

Yeah, we're in the process of rethinking the overall organization and "findability" of content within the wiki. I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind while sorting out a new plan. Thanks :) -- dria 18:26, 24 February 2006 (PST)
Regarding findability, would it be a good idea to develop a <keywords></keywords> extension, which would output meta tags with keywords. (To act as a hint to the upcoming google powered MDC Search). I would probably get that done only after the initial update to breadcrumbs. (If it was done by me) --Callek 23:47, 24 February 2006 (PST)
If you can figure out a way to get a wiki extension to output to the header part of the page, that would be useful. I've not been able to figure out how to do it yet. -- dria 06:49, 25 February 2006 (PST)
