MDN wants to talk to developers like you:

CameraControl.focusDistanceOptimum Redirect 1

This feature is non-standard and is not on a standards track. Do not use it on production sites facing the Web: it will not work for every user. There may also be large incompatibilities between implementations and the behavior may change in the future.

This API is available on Firefox OS for privileged or certified applications only.

The focusDistanceOptimum property value is the distance in meters where the subject appears sharpest.

var optimum = instanceOfCameraControl.focusDistanceOptimum

Return a number representing a distance in meters.

var options = {
  camera: navigator.mozCameras.getListOfCameras()[0]
function onSuccess( camera ) {
  var optimum = camera.focusDistanceOptimum;

  console.log("The subject looks sharp at: " + optimum + "m");

navigator.mozCameras.getCamera(options, onSuccess)

Not part of any specification; however, this API should be removed when the WebRTC Capture and Stream API has been implemented.
