Mozilla Persona ist ein komplett dezentralisiertes und sicheres Authentifizierungs-System fürs Internet, basierend auf dem offenen BrowserID Protokoll. Um sicherzugehen, dass Persona über all und für jede*n funktioniert, betreibt Mozilla zur Zeit ein paar optionale, zentralisierte Services im Zusammenhang mit Persona.

Warum solltest Du und Deine Seite Persona benutzen?

  1. Persona löst ortsspezifische Passwörter vollständig ab, befreit Benutzer und Websites von der Erstellung, Verwaltung und sicheren Speicherung von Passwörtern.

  2. Persona ist einfach zu bedienen. Mit nur zwei Klicks kann sich ein Persona-Benutzer bei einer neuen Website wie Voost oder The Time Crossword registrieren und dabei alle Probleme bei der Account-Erstellung umgehen.

  3. Persona ist einfach zu implementieren. Entwickler können Persona zu einer Website in einem einzigen Nachmittag hinzufügen.

  4. Das Beste von allem, es gibt keinen Lock-in. Entwickler erhalten eine verifizierte E-Mail-Adresse für alle ihre Nutzer und Anwender können eine beliebige E-Mail-Adresse mit Persona verwenden.

  5. Persona ist auf dem BrowserID Protokoll aufgebaut. Sobald die populären Browser-Hersteller die BrowserID implementieren, brauchen diese sich nicht mehr auf Mozilla verlassen, um sich einzuloggen.
