Permitted content Text that is not inter-element whitespace

Attributes

This element only includes the global attributes.

Usage notes

The <title> element is always used within the page's <head> block.

Example

<title>Awesome page title</title>

Accessibility concerns

It is important to provide a title value that clearly and concisely describes the page's purpose.

A common navigation technique for users of assistive technology is first reading the page title to quickly infer what content it will contain. This is because navigating through a page to determine its content can be a time-consuming and potentially confusing process.

Example

<title>Menu - Blue House Chinese Food - FoodYum: Online takeout today!</title>

Updating the page title's value to reflect significant page state changes (such form validation problems) can also be helpful:

Example

<title>2 errors - Your order - Blue House Chinese Food - FoodYum: Online takeout today!</title>
