Talk:RSS
From MDC
Do we *really* want to call this RSS? RSS is the spec name of one of many technologies. What about ATOM? Maybe Web syndication or Web feed is a better term?

- I could see having RSS: pages, Atom: pages, etc, and then having an overview topic that includes all of these called "Web syndication" or "Web Feeds". This is assuming that Atom is a wholly separate technology from RSS, which I'm not sure it is... Anyhow, thoughts?

[edit] Syndication, RSS, and Atom
Hello,
Just saw that someone had written to the Talk Page for this.
My thinking was (also) to have an RSS page, an Atom page, and eventually a Syndication page. (But I can only write so fast :-) )
I think each technology really deserves its own "section". There's certainly enough to write about for each to warrent its own section.

[edit] RSS Proposal List ?
I thinking about adding a RSS Proposal List. This would include emerging standards or just proposed standards.
Does anyone have any comments for or against this?
Update: I put some content on that RSS Proposal List so you can see what it would look like. Note, it is NOT linked in from the RSS page.

[edit] Suggested changes in the description
The description of the RSS format is packed with adjectives and "hype statements". Being Devmo a source of technical information, I believe that Devmo's articles should aim to be as impartial as possible. So, therefore, I suggest that the article is rewritten in a way that explains what RSS is but without giving in to the hype and going beyong the technical or even licensing aspects of it. --RuiMaciel 15:10, 7 September 2005 (PDT)
[edit] Re: Suggested changes in the description
Is it only the following sentence that you have issue with:
- Regardless of this RSS is an extemely popular format used for syndicating news, blog posts, IPradio, and IPTV, with an amazing amount of momentum.
And if so, would this be something like you wanted:
- Regardless of this RSS is a popular format used for syndicating news, blog posts, IPradio, and IPTV.
