Talk:Drag and Drop
From MDC
How do you get the object that's being dragged or dropped?--Sheppy 13:24, 22 September 2006 (PDT)
- Sheppy, wiki talk pages are not for technical discussions. Ask in newsgroups. (although the answer is to get the current drag session from the drag service and ask it for the flavour you want to get) --Nickolay 20:06, 22 September 2006 (PDT)
- Nickolay, actually, that wasn't technical discussion. That was editorial commentary. The article doesn't make it clear where the object comes from, and that needs to be addressed. I wasn't clear about that, I realize now. --Sheppy 07:18, 14 May 2007 (PDT)
- While I agree that the talk page is not the right place to ask this kind of question, why is it "not for technical discussions?" It seems to me that it might be apropriate to discuss further details and then hopefully update the document with more pertinent information. --Monkey 23:47, 13 May 2007 (PDT)
- Because the set of knowledgeable people who see the question while it's on recent changes is much smaller than the set of people who can answer it in the newsgroups.
- Plus in my case, even though I see the question, it often happens that don't have the time to research it immediately. This means that if I want to answer the question, I have to add a note to self to check it later (otherwise there's no reminder at all, since the edit that added the question gets lost in the rest of recent changes). I usually don't bother. Contrast this to the way e-mail/newsgroups work: when you don't have the time to answer a message immediately, you leave it as unread (or in the inbox) and it sits there until you get back to it. --Nickolay 01:08, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
