Hi, everyone. My name is Evan, and I'm the founder and main developer for Wikitravel.org. I'm also on the MediaWiki core development team.

I wanted to bring to your attention the MediaWiki OpenID extension. It lets users login to a MW site with an OpenID -- a simple URL-based authentication system -- and use their account on the wiki as an OpenID for other sites. The main advantage is to let users who have an account on one wiki log in to other wikis without having to maintain an account on each one.

The extension is rolled out on Wikitravel, where you can test it [1]. I thought it would be especially useful for a site like the MDC.
