Beta 5 code freeze and baking period now Wednesday at 11:59pm PDT

(Update: due to an unexpected service outage which interrupted some people, as well as the remaining number of P1 blockers, we’ve decided to delay the code freeze for the beta 5 baking period by 24 hours.)

After tonight’s freeze the code freeze on Wednesday, March 19th at 11:59pm PDT, we’ll be using the same process we used for the last beta. As we drive the number of Beta 5 blockers to zero, the tree will be closed to bake. Your help in regression spotting and fixing is, as always, appreciated. The only bugs that can land during this baking period are those marked with the “approval1.9b5+” flag. If you believe a bug should block the release of Firefox 3 Beta 5, please make sure it is either marked or nominated as a P1 blocker or set the target milestone to “Firefox 3 beta 5″ or “mozilla1.9beta5″.

We are currently frozen for localization work, so no new strings will be accepted at this time. You may wish to mark bugs with the following keywords:

  • “relnote” will nominate that bug for entry in the Firefox 3 Beta 5 release notes
  • “late-compat” will indicate that the bug might affect add-on compatibility
  • “dev-doc-needed” will indicate that developer documentation is required

Those wishing to follow along can track progress of the Beta 5 release.
