Today’s Bon Echo nightly build update is “major”ly cool
As preed promised on Tuesday, users of the 20060921 nightly build of Bon Echo who “Check for Updates…” will see a new Software Update dialog used to advertise new versions (aka: “major updates”) to users:

Full version upgrades (such as Firefox 2 to Firefox 3) will be offered to users as “major updates”, allowing users to choose whether or not they want to upgrade now or later. Clicking “Never” will prevent Firefox’s daily update check from asking about the version bump again until a user explicitly asks to “Check for Updates…”, while “minor updates” (which are the security and stability releases) are still presented to users. See bug 329729 for more details on how Software Update handles major vs. minor updates.
Nightly users who upgrade to “Bon Echo 2.0mt2″ will continue to get regular Bon Echo nightly updates after installing the major update. We appreciate your help in testing this new feature, and will be looking for your feedback in the form of bugs, newsgroup comments (to mozilla.dev.apps.firefox), on MozillaZine and on IRC.
