How do I enter?
You must create an add-on for Firefox 3 and submit it by 11:59pm pacific time on July 4th, 2008. Please review the contest details page for additional information.
Can I enter an existing add-on?
Yes. Prizes will also be awarded to existing Firefox Add-ons that are
updated for Firefox 3, and that show significant improvements in user
experience and performance.
Can add-ons be developed by a group or team?
Yes. However, only one prize package will be awarded per winning entry.
Can a company enter the contest?
No. This contest is open to individuals or groups. We're still working on plans to award innovation in commercial Firefox add-ons.
What happens with the entries after the contest?
All entries will be promoted on the Mozilla
Add-ons site to the more than 100 million people worldwide who are now using Firefox.
How do I create an add-on? What files do I need to submit?
We've compiled a set of Developer
Resources as a starting point for building your add-on. Once
complete, you must submit a fully compliant extension or theme that is compatible with Firefox 2.
Is this contest open to people outside of the United States?
Yes, we've spent a great deal of time to develop a set of rules that
work in most places in the world. This edition of the contest adds even more countries. It turns out
to be nontrivial to support every country, given the differences in laws governing skilled contests, but we've tried our best to be as inclusive as possible. Please see the Official Rules for more information.
Is this contest open to residents of Brazil?
Yes, the contest is open to residents of Brazil. There was some confusion as to eligibility when the contest launched. Entries from Brazil will be accepted up until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time on July 31st, 2008.
Are platform-specific add-ons eligible? (e.g. Windows only)
Participants can submit platform specific extensions, though submitting extensions that work on all platforms (i.e. Windows, Mac, and Linux) is highly encouraged.
